"A Wizard's Soliloquy" Stop Motion Animation

"A Wizard's Soliloquy" is a stop motion short that I created as a part of Aardman's Stop Motion Industry training under the guidance of Maria Rivas. I fabricated all of the props and backdrop as well as a majority of the puppet (Aardman provided the plastic head and hands). Both the fabrication and the animation were completed in approximately 30 days. The backdrop is made of insulation foam sheets as a base and covered in a layer of paper clay, carved and painted to resemble a stone wall. The props are an array of wood, polymer clay, paper, glass, plastic, ceramics, hot glue, yarn, feathers, fabric, 3D resin prints, found objects, and acrylic paint. The Wizard's face, hands, and eyelids are painted with acrylic paint and chalk pastels.

His hair, beard, mustache, and eyebrows are made of dyed raw sheep fleece that I washed, brushed, and made into wefts. I created the base of the beard from a sheet of pre-felt and applied the fleece in layers using hot glue and a hot wax carving tool. His clothes are flannel, cotton, velvet, and metallic elastic cord.
